NBN Claim to Delivers 8GBPS over Copper Lines

NBN CONFIRM THEY HAVE DELIVERED SPEEDS OF 8GBPS SPEEDS IN LAB TRIALS OVER COPPER.

In recent lab trials, NBNCo have confirmed success in delivering a ground breaking new copper acceleration technology, known as XG.FAST. NBNCo have stated that they achieved a peak aggregate speed of 8Gbps over 30 metres of twisted-pair copper, which is around 900 times faster than average broadband speeds. NBNCo, BT and Deutsche Telekom are the only providers globally to run market lab trials of XG.FAST and the first Australian company to complete this. NBNCo XG.FAST trials were undertaken in Sydney in conjunction with Nokia. NBNCo announced in September that it was planning to deploy FTTC services to approximately 700,000 premises on the nbn network– providing an ideal platform for potentially deploying future XG.FAST services. “XG.FAST gives us the potential ability to deliver multi-gigabit speeds over copper lines – virtually on a par with what is currently available on Fibre-to-the-Premises – but at a lower cost and time to deploy.” – Dennis Steiger, CTO of nbnco Australia.
